Owners Roadway Responsibilities
Homeowners are required to keep any shrubs or trees at the adjoining roadway clear at all times so as not to obstruct any vehicles.
Trees or debris that is part of your property that falls into the roadway is your responsibility. The deeds show that your property line extends to the center line of the road. There is a non-exclusive road and utilities easement, normally 20′ from the center line of the road. The WME Board requires that some part of that 20′ easement to be clear for drainage ditches, culverts and road side mowing. If a tree falls into the road from your property and you are incapable or unavailable to remove yourself, the debris will most likely be removed by a service company. You will be responsible for the costs incurred. This is why we recommend you be proactive in maintaining any dead limbs or potential hazards.
